The CWG has three specific committees with focused work, and continues to engage in advocacy for Papahānaumokuākea and the broader Pacific.
In order to maintain and protect the natural, cultural, and historic resources of Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, the Permits Review subcommittee of the Cultural Working Group is responsible for evaluating, and providing comments and recommendations on activity applications in Papahānaumokuākea.
The Hui ʻOhi Manu is tasked with the maintenance of the relationship between Papahānaumokuākea and our ʻohana in the pae ʻāina through ʻŌiwi religious, artistic and broader practices that require for their indefinite reproduction the manu who have found refuge in Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument.
The Nomenclature Hui continues to push the agenda regarding reclaiming our spaces, and building, strengthening, and continuing relationships with elements and species within these spaces.
We remain firm and committed to protecting the natural, cultural, and spiritual resources of Papahānaumokuākea and the broader Pacific. The following are the current advocacy focus areas of the CWG.
